What are the monthly fees? What does that include?

Students pay an annual fee. The current years fees can be found on the application tab. Furthermore the fees include a single room, home cooked meals, electricity and security. We also provide free internet access.

Is the bedroom furnished?

The rooms are fully furnished. However students are required to supply their own bedding and are welcome to put their own touch to the rooms!

Do I have to share a room?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. No, all rooms are single rooms however the bathrooms are shared. 

Do I have to share toilet/shower facilities? With how many people?

Yes, as a rule the students share the toilet/shower with 3 or 4 others. However we do have some rooms which have their own basins.

Is there internet access?
Yes! We have a FREE WiFi  in the building! 
Are there catering facilities? May we provide our own meals?
We provide nutritious meals including fresh fruit and vegetables. By the way our meals are cooked daily in our spacious kitchen. In addition the residents have access to fridges and microwaves. Also hot water for tea and coffee is provided on every floor – subsequently late night coffee is no problem.
Is there parking available?

We do have parking bays for some students at a yearly fee. Consequently we operate on a first come first serve basis for booking these bays. The earlier the better chance you have of obtaining a bay!

How many students can Villa Maria accommodate?

We have 52 single rooms.

How close is Villa Maria to colleges and UCT?

Villa Maria is centrally situated. Consequently it is within walking distance of most Campuses. For instance City Varsity, CPUT and Fedisa. In addition UCT Hiddingh Campus is 5 minutes walk away. Also AAA school of Advertising, Achievers College, Academy of Fashion and Vega. And the Academy of Health and Skin care and many international Language colleges are close by. Incidentally it’s a 5 minute walk to the Jamie Shuttle for UCT students and the My Citi Bus stops at the front door. Subsequently Villa is the place to be!

Are the female residents mainly first year students studying in Cape Town?

We have a diverse range of Students in different years and from different Colleges  and Universities.  However the residence is exclusively for females. Incidentally we also have some International Students choosing to live in and study in Cape Town at the residence.

May I come and view Villa Maria?

You are welcome to view the residence at any time. It is advisable to usually make and make an appointment with the Manager.

Are there Laundry facilities?

We have a washing machine available to the students at a cost of R20.00 per load. Also there are outside wash lines.

May I have visitors?

Yes, you are welcome to receive visitors. However male visitors are allowed access to the reception area only. All visitors must vacate the premises by 8 pm on Sunday – Thursday and by 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Thus all visitors must be signed in and out in our visitors book.

Do you have a curfew?

Residents have 24 hour access to Villa Maria. Consequently there is no curfew. Also we have a security guard and his dog on duty at night.
