Is the bedroom furnished?

The rooms are furnished with a bed, basic furniture and ample cupboard space. Tenants supply their own bedding and may decorate their rooms to their unique tastes.

Do I share a room?

No – all bedrooms are private, single rooms. Bathrooms are shared, however. 

How many people do I share the bathroom facilities with?

As a rule, residents share a bathroom with 3 or 4 others. Some bedrooms have their own basins. 

Is there internet access?

Yes! We have a FREE WiFi  in the building, and this is included in your rent.

Do you have catering facilities?

We provide daily nutritious meals, including fresh fruit and vegetables, as part of your rent. Meals are cooked daily in our spacious kitchen.

In addition the residents have access to fridges and microwaves, and hot water for tea and coffee is provided on every floor, for those night owls who need a late cuppa. 

Is there parking available?

We do have parking bays available at an additional cost. This is allocated on a first come first served basis, and subject to availability.

How many tenants can Villa Maria accommodate?

We have 55 single rooms, and can therefore accommodate up to 55 women.

Can female students rent rooms at Villa Maria?

Villa Maria has been the accommodation option of choice for many female students for decades now. We have a diverse range of students in different years and from different Colleges  and Universities.  We also have some International Students choosing to live in and study in Cape Town at the residence.

How close is Villa Maria to tertiary institutions?

Villa Maria is centrally situated, just off Kloof Street, and is within walking distance of most campuses within the City Bowl, e.g. City Varsity, CPUT and Fedisa.

In addition UCT’s Hiddingh Campus is a 5 minute walk away, while AAA school of Advertising, Achievers College, Academy of Fashion and Vega, the Academy of Health and Skin Care and many international Language colleges are closeby.

Villa Maria is also a short walk to the Jammie Shuttle for UCT students and the MyCiTi Bus stops at the front door. 

Do you have laundry facilities?

We have a washing machine available to residents at a cost of R30 per load. There are safe and secure washing lines outside.

May I have visitors?

Yes, you are welcome to receive visitors. However male visitors are allowed access to the reception area only. All visitors must vacate the premises by 8pm Sunday – Thursday, and by 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

For safety, all visitors must be signed in and out in our visitors book.

Do you have a curfew?

Residents have 24-hour access to Villa Maria and there is no curfew. For additional safety we have a security guard on duty at night.

May I view the property and rooms?

Prospective tenants are welcome to view the residence at any time. It is advisable to make an appointment with the Manager beforehand for ease of access, and to ensure that all your questions are answered.
